I LOVE Redbox! Free or Cheap Family Fun! Try it tonight!

Ok, so in this struggling economy sometimes it is difficult to find an inexpensive way to unwind.  Our family enjoys an occasional Movie Night but since all of our kids now are considered an ADULT <at 12, huh?> it can be quite costly to take the whole crew to the movies, buy snacks, popcorn and drinks!

We have recently opted to stay in and have Movie Night at home.  However, there is only one location left in our small town that actually RENTS MOVIES!  We often get frustrated when looking for  movies here because they are not categorized properly or after we figure out which one we actually want to watch to our dismay they are all checked out!

Ok, I admit that I am a little old school and I was not real sure about the whole REDBOX thing at first I am so glad I finally did because REDBOX is wonderful!  For those of you who have not tried it yet you must give it a try tonight.  It is so easy to use.

First you can rent at the REDBOX.  These are located outside or directly inside most of your local grocery and/or chain pharmacies and also I think in just about every McDonalds.  The process is very easy and goes something like this:
  • Go up to the REDBOX.
  • Read the instructions on the screen to scroll through the movie choices in that particular box.
  • Chose the movie(s) you want to watch with the touchscreen.
  • Swipe your credit/debit card.
  • Take your movie(s) from the slot.
  • Go home and pop some popcorn and enjoy!
Or my favorite way is to reserve your movie online and that process goes like this:

  • Click on this link.
  • Create an account.
  • Choose the movie you want to see.
  • Find the closest location to you that the movie is available.
  • Reserve it and pick it up at your leisure the same day.
  • When you get to the RedBox kiosk you would choose to pick up a reserved movie and swipe your card.
  • Go home and pop some popcorn and enjoy!
The cost is 1.25 per night or 1.00 for your first night if you reserve online.  It is SO EASY, CONVENIENT AND INEXPENSIVE!

Oh and did I mention you can turn your movie back in at any RedBox kiosk?  Yep, that is right.....ANY location without penalty will accept your movie back!  You just take the movie, insert it back into the machine and you are done.

Um, just pay attention to the directions on inserting it back into the kiosk, because it does matter which way the case is facing and if you do it wrong it just keeps spitting it back at you.......  or so I hear. ;)

Also don't forget to pick up some movie snacks while you are picking up your movie!  Print your coupons for those gummy bears before you leave the house!

OH!  And I almost forgot!  My son would be mad at me if I left this off! You can also rent Video Games for PS3, Wii, and XBOX 360, so if your kiddo is hounding you about a new game you can let them try it out before you buy it!

One for the ladies! CVS Hair Color Clearance with ECB Deals!

Aside from the 75% off at CVS on Christmas items, I found some really great deals on Hair Color tonight!  They have select colors of Clairol Nice n Easy Foam, several other Clairol formulas, John Frieda and L'Oreal marked down 75%.  Pair these with recent coupons and ECB deals and they turn into money makers!

Check the database to locate the coupon for your favorite brand!

New Year's Resolution - How to Reach Your Savings Goal for 2012 #2

Okay on with the saving!

So by now you should have some printed coupons!  But in order to take advantage of the deals you need to have a variety of coupons.......but how!

Where do you collect coupons?  Coupons are everywhere!  They are on the back of many register receipts, they can be found sticking out from grocery store shelves (these are called blinkies), there are also tear pads located on displays in stores, some stores print additional ones in addition to your receipt, they are found in many Sunday newspapers and there are printable from various places on the web.

Lets start with the coupon inserts found in the Sunday newspapers.

I subscribe to two newspapers.  One local and also the Houston Chronicle.  The coupons in the Sunday paper vary by region.  The Houston Chronicle often has a larger number of coupons than my local paper and often the ones the ones that are duplicated in my local paper have a different value than The Chronicle.   This gives me a solid base to start with each week.

Another source for me has been family and friends.  Ask your family and friends if they subscribe to the paper, what they do with the coupons.  So many people toss them in the waste basket or the recycling bin.  Most are more than willing to set them aside for you to use if you just ask!

Next time we will look at what to do with all of these coupons once you have them!

New Year's Resolution - How to Reach Your Savings Goal for 2012 #1

Couponing can seem so overwhelming at first!  Many times people will give up before they get the kinks worked out and never get to experience the true savings that are available.  I hope that through this series I can help you break the process down into manageable steps so that you can begin to reach your savings goals for the New Year!

First I would like to dispel some couponing myths.
  • You will not walk out the grocery store every time you shop having paid only pennies for three carts of groceries!
  • You do not have to (nor should you) buy 20 bottles of shampoo (or whatever) each time you shop!
  • You do not have to give up your favorite products.  You can still remain "brand loyal" and save money - Although trying new products with coupons may introduce you to new items that you and your family may enjoy.
  • You do not have to spend hours planning your shopping trips to only save a few dollars!
  • You also do not need tons of storage space to keep your "stockpile".  There are creative ways to store stocked up items that take up very little room!

So what do you do?  The first thing is to gather coupons, of course!  Start here to print your first coupons!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful and safe time ringing in the New Year!

Now that all of the celebrating is over it is time to get back to saving!  After throwing out all of those expired coupons from yesterday (or donating them to the overseas military personnel) it is time to restock!  There were 3-4 inserts in most papers today and there are some great new printables out too!  Click here to get started restocking your coupons ---->  CLICK ME!

Some to specifically look for when you are selecting are higher value cereal coupons!

Happy Printing!
